Tuesday 18th January

Woke up  to a nice pleasant day, temp around 23 degrees...John decided to take all the wheels off the trailer and check each one, to make sure no more cracks etc and check the bearings...we are both paranoid about this trailer at the moment..so much as gone wrong with it since we got it..

But the good news is all the wheels were ok...so we will just wait till we get the other in and get them fitted back on again..

While he was doing that, I was working on the pc and it was so slow... and not getting any pages up so I rang Bigpond  to be informed that the modem was stuffed, so they have to send me a new one out, which could take 5 working days...in the mean time I have no internet so I went back to my pre paid one, when I went to use it it would not work grrrrrrrrrrrrrr so back onto Bigpond and they had deactivated it...hummm thanks Bigpond.. so now I have to find a Telstra shop to pay !!! to get it re activated again...

So we decided to go for a drive to Mirimbula which is 30 kl away...as they have a Telstra shop there.. It was a nice drive, and when we got to Mirimbula we was so surprised what a lovely place it was, we had a nice drive around and checked it all out and was sorry we didn’t make it to there instead of boring Bega...

On a windy day, Main Beach (also known as Merimbula Beach) and Short Point are the go to beaches for windsurfers and kiteboarders alike.

Bar Beach is the best beach to check out Merimbula's sea life. Snorkel by the boat shed, you're likely to spot some octopus, whiting, dusky flathead, drummer and luderick. Come in late summer and the beginning of fall to see butterflyfish, tangs, and neon damsels.

so you can see why we wished we had moved on that little bit and stayed here...We will definately stay here on our way around again..

After getting the Telstra stick fixed up we headed back to Bega...

Now Omen or not...but over Christmas we was looking at changing the trailer ...selling what we have and buying a “Dolly Trailer” thats a trailer that you drive the front wheels of your car onto and tow it that way...but at the time it was not easy to find who makes them or where we could purchase one from..the closes place being BEGA !!  so on the way back from Mirimbula we decided to go and check out the place where the guy makes them to order, and lucky for us he had one there finished for us to look at... NOT CHEAP !!! but perfect for what we wanted...But of course we needed to sell ours first before we could think of buying another one..the RV can only pull one at a time...

So on the way back we discussed with each other if we should try and sell ours on Ebay while we are here for a couple more days..and said ok bugger it lets try !! see if we get any bites... I put it on Ebay for a “Buy it Now” price... and within 30 mins of putting it on we got 3 calls one after the other enquiring about it...and the first guy bought it there and then sight unseen, and hes driving up from Melbourne to pick it up...amazing we could not believe our luck and how popular they are...So our prayers have been answered we have finally got rid of our “lemon” its now someone elses problem...

Monday 17th January

My beautiful daughter’s birthday today, she will be 41... how time flies, we packed up and left Moruya and our plan was to stay at Mystery Bay, but we found out it was $25 per night and that was for no water or power, so we decided to move further on and stay at a Caravan Park at Wallaga Lake, but as we approached it we didn’t see it and passed the turn off, because the road was narrow and no where to turn around we decided to keep going..drove through Bermagui ..no where to stay there so we headed to Bega, as we drove through the main street of Bega someone pointed out that we had a flat tyre on the trailer... we thought  “oh no not again”   we pulled up and it wasn’t as bad ( we thought) as last time...We took the car off and we both drove to the Bega Caravan Park the only park in Bega...wasnt that crash hot but we didn’t have a choice..

When John took the wheel off it was a lot worse than we thought the rim was totally cracked and the tyre was ruined again ..that was a brand new tyre only 6 weeks old....

John went into town and had to order a new rim and tyre, and it had to be shipped up from Sydney, and we were told it probably wont be here till Wednesday or Thursday... grrrrrrrrrrr so we have to stay put till they come in....

Sunday 16th Jan Mogo Zoo

Woke up to a warm day... and was up bright and early to visit the Mogo Zoo, before it gets too hot..

Mogo Zoo is a privately owned zoo situated 10km south of Batemans Bay in the picturesque and historic gold mining village of Mogo.

The organisation is committed to the survival of endangered animals and provide world standard facilities for over 200 animals of more than 42 rare and exotic species, including the White Lions of 'Timbavati'. Mogo Zoo also boasts the largest collection of primates in any private zoo in Australia.

Up close and personal

White Lions are not albinos but rather have a recessive gene which gives them their white appearance. They are only found in the Timbavati region of South Africa which borders the Kruger National Park. Today, White Lions can only be seen in captivity.

 From the island of Sumatra, these Tigers are highly endangered with only 300-350 remaining in the wild, prominently due to habitat loss and poaching. These are the smallest Tiger sub-species, and webbing between their toes allows them to be competent swimmers unlike other big cat species.

The Red Panda is a small arboreal mammal and is the only species of the genus ‘Ailurus’. It eats mainly bamboo but is omnivorous and may also eat eggs, Birds, insects and small mammals.






Another name used in English is Firefox. It is said that this is the literal translation of the Chinese name for the Red Panda.

Meerkats inhabit the savannah and desert areas of Angola, southern Botswana, Namibia and South Africa. An adult sentry will keep a watch-out for predators as the remaining members of the group forage for food. They will eat insects, Scorpions, Snakes, small mammals and plants.
I just loved these and took heaps of pictures but can not put them all up here.

Fallow Deer have white spots on their back and the males (bucks) grow antlers which are used to fight other males for herd dominance. They were originally native to the Middle East, however, man has introduced Fallow Deer to many corners of the world including Australia, America and a small area of Africa.


There were lots and lots more...but these were my favorites....

Busy Day

We woke up to a lovely day and the forecast was for a warm day and no rain... John dragged me out of bed and said come on lets go into town for breakfast. So after a quick shower and bed made off we went.. we decided to walk into town over the bridge which was very pleasant...

I took some photos so you can get an idea of what a great spot we are in...these are a view of the river from the bridge north and south..

After breakfast the plan was to go into Batemans Bay to pick up a few parts for the RV we needed then on the way back go to the Mogo Zoo...but we ended up in Batemans Bay a lot longer than we thought... plus it was really hot and I didn't fancy walking around the Zoo in the heat of the day...so we called it a day and returned to relax in the shade of the trees and watch the goings on.. on the river... so relaxing...

We are suppose to leave tomorrow  ( Sunday) but have decided to stay another day and try to get to the Zoo tomorrow...

Better Day's Friday 14th

John is feeling much better today .. wooohooo !!! he has been so sick....

We decided to get out and go and have a drive, its a lovely warm day today...so we headed to some of the main attractions of this beautiful Eurobodalla Nature Coast, which has some 60 named beaches not to mention numerous small and isolated coves tucked away down winding roads...

We first went for a drive on the north side of south head a beach called Shelley Beach, where the river meets the sea...

From Shelly Beach we drove on the coast road stopping at a look out at Toragy ...it had a very very old grave yard there and some of the graves were well over 100 years old and the children were so young.. just shows how hard life was in those days.

We then carried on to Broulee Beach which is a very popular beach which was obvious today,

After checking out all the beaches we then drove to Mogo a little country town which takes you back to the 19th century with its traditional architecture. Mogo provides the perfect break from the beach or bush. We browsed the many shops and enjoy the quality of the handcrafts produced by the locals. We had lunch in one of the many tea houses and little cafes which stretch out onto the pathways all through the town.

After lunch I noticed an Alpaca Shop, I could not wait to get in there,as I have been looking for a red wool or alpaca blanket for ages...and low and behold when I got in there she had one...but after looking around and seeing the genuine blankets made of the true colours of the alpaca and not dyed I decided to buy one of those instead... it matches the RV colours perfectly...

So I drove home feeling very happy.. we had a wonderful day...

Rest day

John is sicker today.. his chest sounds terrible...the wheezing is awful...hes spent most of the day resting...and of course I am the nurse.. looking after him... (he likes that part )

Caught up on a lot of little chores I had to do... and spoke to my brothers on Skype...

Spent the day watching the coverage of the awful floods in Queensland...

The weather here as been nice today, warm and NO rain for once...

I got some mail from my grand daughter  Jenna this morning, and it was  wonderful that she has gone to so much trouble for her Nanna. 

Its also great that she comes on line and chats to me on Skype..makes it so much easier for me being away from them...

How to waste 4 hours !!

John has been sick for the passed 4 days, with a sore throat and a cough which gradually got worse each day so today I insisted he go to the doctors...he said no way !!! But I won !


Tried the local Medical Centre first to be advised  it was THREE WEEKS before they could fit us in... my god what happens when your really sick in this town....So off we went to the local hospital..thinking small town wont be to much of a wait... 4 hours later...sheeeesh.. it wasn't that it was full of patients... its just they do not rush things in these places....seeing one patient ever hour....
Anyway just as well we went.... he has a chest infection as I predicted, and was given antibiotic and a puffer as his chest was wheezing...


We drove to Batemans Bay after that, but shouldn't have really has John wasn't well enough but he insisted he was ok... 


But he ended up going straight to bed when we got back without any dinner... hes now got a high fever, and very tired... so I hope a goods night sleep does him good..

A wet day ...

We woke to the rain again... its been raining on and off all night...in between the showers we managed to get the rest of the camp site set up...

John isn't too well he has been feeling a little sick over the last few days... some viral thing hes picked up...so we are not planning on doing too much today...

Went into town and did some grocery shopping and had lunch at one of the many little cafe's in town, the weather had cleared up a bit and was nice sitting there people watching....

MORUYA

Its Sunday morning and after once again packing up in the pouring rain...we set off  heading towards our next destination ..

Rained all the way there, we stopped off just out side Moruya for a coffee which we always do .. as once we arrive its full on setting up for a little while.

Situated on the banks of the beautiful Moruya River, Moruya is a country town in the traditional style with an easy, relaxed lifestyle far removed from the pace of city life. Moruya has been a rural and commercial centre. It as a number of historic buildings as you pass through the main streets of the town, the preservation and restoration of which gives Moruya its special character on the Eurobodalla Coast. Although being the smallest of the three major towns on the Eurobodalla Coast, Moruya is the administrative centre of the shire - home to the council offices and other public institutions, such as the Moruya College of TAFE. The historical selection of Moruya for these institutions arises partly from the fact that Moruya lies near the geographical centre of the Eurobodalla Shire, which runs from Batemans Bay in the north to Tilba in the south and also because Moruya is one of the older towns in the region. Across the Moruya River Moruya hosts country markets held on Saturday mornings in the centre of town. Here you can browse through a wide array of stalls offering arts, homemade crafts, clothes, food delicacies and much more.  Moruya is also popular for its annual rodeo which really gives a taste of country living in rural Australia. Equally, this versatile town is renown for its Jazz Festival, which annually boasts an amazingly varied program with big-name jazz musicians playing in relaxed country venues. We wont be around for that, but I guess we can always come back again

On arrival at the Riverbreeze Tourist Park ..once again we find the same situation as Milton, we could not fit on the site...I dont know some people just have no idea how long 10 metres is.....

John and I went for a walk around the park and found one place where we would fit...Lucky for us it was available.. I have no idea why they didn't suggest that in the first place.

But we were happy to take it as I wasn't in the mood to look for somewhere else in the pouring rain...

The site is a nice spot .... over looking the river...

Maureen & Craig's Visit

Today is our last day at Milton, we had a nice visit in the afternoon from Maureen & Craig, even though Maureen was not well she had, had two teeth pulled earlier in the day, one being a wisdom tooth !!!!!


They came bearing gifts ....my new candles from Dusk's and yet another christmas cake... !!!!!!

Mollymook

Had a nice dinner at the Mollymook Golf Club last night..( Thanks Darren for recommending it ) a very nice club indeed !!!

Today we went to the beach Mollymook again its a lovely little beach...weather was perfect... I even went in the surf almost up to my waist...now thats something I dont do often.. the water was lovely...

Home Sweet Home

Its nice being here in the middle of no where although today we have 3 new visitors, and some are camped near US !! how dare they invade our privacy.. we had it all to our selves for a while... Im sure they will move on tomorrow...They are in "Hippie" trucks...Its starting to look like home now... we have the washing line up and the chairs and table out etc...Went for a drive to Ulladulla today for lunch after doing the housework and washing, John cleaned the car inside and out... we did some banking and I got a long awaited hair cut.. nice weather ..so we cruised around with the hood down :)

MILTON

Well we have arrived at Milton

This National Trust historic town established in 1860 has blossomed over the past few years. Bookshops, cafés and galleries have taken over most of the main street, making Milton a pocket-sized delight.

Set in lush farmland, Milton is starting to meld with the neighbouring coastal towns of Mollymook and Ulladulla.

To the west, the landscape is dominated by the rock spire of Pigeon House Mountain, not that we can see much of it as its been raining on and off since we got here and the clouds are low...

We are staying at the Showground as the place where we booked in at could not fit us on a site as we were  too big..

The showground is great... plenty of space and lovely views from every window in the RV...we have booked to stay here for a week to explore the area.


Went for lunch in town to the local Pie shop YUMMMMMMMMM beautiful pies..the building is built of sandstone and very old..

 The place was packed..a cute little lolly shop was at the back..
its all opened from 6am to 10pm in the evening..
After lunch we went for a drive around the local area..on the way back we spotted our RV in the distance all on its own...

New Years Day

After getting to bed at 1.30am after a great night with our friends...we all have a lazy morning...It was so hot today 40 degrees we decided to relax inside with the a/c The boys watched DVD's then went for a cruise in our car ...

 

For those of you that didnt know...we sold our Jeep and bought our little car above... if you ask why ??? too many reason to write down..in a couple of words..

A HEAP of crap !!

New Year

We left Camden finally on our way at last to tour around Australia..after catching up with Trysha's family for Christmas which was wonderful...and John well rested after his operation..Trysha said her goodbyes to the children and grandchildren which was very sad for her, as she will miss them all dearly.. but thank goodness for Skype we will all keep in touch...

We said our goodbyes to friends we had met at Camden especially our neighbours Lois & Michael..lovely people from Western Australia who Im sure we are going to meet up with again on our travels..

We headed off on the 30th December to spend some time with friends Maureen & Craig at Worrigee which is just out side Nowra,

We caught up with them last July at the Entrance when they stayed with us in their Caravan when we left to pick up the RV, and they invited us to stay with them over New Year, I said are you sure we will fit in your driveway ... Craig assured us we would... and we did ... it was awesome...

On New Years Eve we had a nice day out visiting various parts of the local area, Craig is a great tourist guide, he took us to Hyams Beach, then Greenpatch Beach then on to Murrays Beach and Jarvis Bay and finished off at the Huskisson Pub for a cold beer....

Later in the day Pat and Glen arrived from Wollongong to spend the evening with us and see the new year in..we all had a great time ...great company and an awesome evening meal...

After feeding our tummies we all settled down to some serious drinking.. (well the men did ) and waited to see the new year in.....
