11th March 2011 Geelong

Before heading out to Ballarat we had to pick up a few things in Geelong, and decided to have a walk around before we left it for the last time...The Waterfront is one of Australia's best waterfront redevelopments. The transformation includes new restaurants, beautiful landscaped gardens, walking, cycling and skating paths. They have also done up the old Cunningham Pier and they have kept its original rail tracks which the pier used in the 1800's...We went for a walk on it and had coffee and cake at a nice cafe at the end..

After coffee we went for a walk on the board walk and passed a beautiful glass dome where they have  an antique carousel where children can do laps on the 36 painted horses and two chariots to familiar melodies from a 19th century fairground organ.

All along the board walk are colourful statues and lovely lawns and playgrounds for the kids...

Can you spot John !!!!!

as well as the marina for the big boys to put their toys...
